Week 1 has LEFT US!!!!

Hi Friends!

My first week in Kinder for this 2017-2018 school year has been a success! I love all 24 of my kinder. I know that it is going to be a great school year with lots of learning and fun. Rules & Procedures are a must for the first two weeks of school, but I added in a little more fun. Check it out below:

Monday

Tara West KinderSurvival is a must!!! We jumped right into ABC Bootcamp with Letter Aa. I love Mr. Greg's system of learning the first 26 letters/sounds/associated words with a circle map for the first 26 days of school. It is truly beneficial for my kindergarten students. We use Jack Hartmann's alphabet song for each letter and my kids love to sing and dance to it.

Tuesday

Letter Bb! Today I introduced Simply Kinder's lowercase letters craft! Check that out if you haven't seen it, heard about it, or it's still in your cart :) I love these little crafts to do each day for each letter...B for Butterfly! I got to see how my kinder glued, cut, and placed their pieces!

Wednesday

Wednesday fun included: C is for Cat! Today I introduced Tara West's KinderSocialSkills :) So excited for these quick and fun curriculum. My students were engaged as we discussed Tom Cat and Tabby Cat and the importance of following directions. I love how their is a follow up from the day before and a writing/drawing piece for the students to complete. It's just GREAT!

Thursday

Fun Friday EVE!!!!! Thursday was letter Dd for DINOSAUR...ROAR!!! Lol
This was my kinders favorite craft so far of the week. Check it out! Their cutting has improved so much since Monday.

Fun Friday

Every Friday we allow our students to bring in one special toy from home for Fun Friday! They are allowed 15-20 minutes to play and share with their friends at the end of the day. This is a great idea from one of the second grade teachers at school. But today, I played Moana on for them and then we had a BIRTHDAY PARTY to celebrate :) First one of the year!!!

Wrap Up: Great first week ---> Gearing to have a great second week! So thankful for a three day weekend and having Labor Day! Today will consist of putting together my kids PANDA binders :)

Target HAUL !

So, yesterday I went to TARGET...only to shop for a new trash can for my mom,  but I just had to stop in the dollar spot :)

I found a bunch of goodies, but one in particular that I have been looking for:

I was so excited for this find! I got a great little tip to take BOY pics of my kinder holding this and then just place their information in powerpoint! GENIUS! So, I just typed some information into powerpoint on the picture (using my son's favorite color - his favorite book is a little hard to read, but you can always change the color) and VOILA!

I think that it turned out really good! Parents are going to love seeing this at the EOY with their kiddos Moving to First Grade Memory Books! AND seeing the transition from the First Day of K to the Last Day of K!

Let's CATCH up!!

I have been away too long!! There have been some amazing things that have happened over these past few months.

THERE'S A NEW EDITION TO OUR PANDA FAMILY
Please Welcome Miss Kinsley :)

Here we were celebrating her 1 month with her big brother!!! #brothersisterlove

Maternity leave has given me time to play, snuggle, and laugh with this little one, but also prepare for my return to my kinder babies.

I wanted to have some fun lessons and ease back into the transition of teaching and getting my students back on track with my expectations, so I decided to do some play based learning fun by using Elizabeth Hall's (Kickin' it in Kindergarten) "Vowel Surgery"!!!

VowelSurgery

Thank you again, Elizabeth, for this wonderful activity for my kinders!! Can't wait to use it upon my return.

In this packet you will get two:
$1
$5

As a reward system, give students a $1 for good behavior. As your students collect more money, trade out 5 $1 with a $5. Your students get to collect money up to a specific amount you choose to get a reward from the treasure box or your school store.

In my case, my school uses clip charts. If my students stay on green (ready to learn) they will earn $1. If my students get on purple (awesome) they will automatically receive $5. My students have to collect $5 to get a surprise from my treasure box. Your Class…Your Choice!!!

Also included is a sneak preview of what is to come with the use of the money in this packet.

July CURRENTLY

Hi Friends!! I am linking up with
"Oh Boy Fourth Grade"

So, I am currently hanging out with my little man! (my two year old son)...who loves him some Disney Jr. so we are currently watching Doc, then Miles!!!

I am loving creating some new TpT products for you guys...I am still linked up with Teach Create Motivate for the "TpT Seller Challenge"....It is Week 3 and I am creating a MasterPiece ;)

Before this school year even ended, I have been thinking about this upcoming school year!!! Looking at School Girl Style for new classroom decor and PINNING crazy and exciting ideas for my Kinders.

I have been craving a VMS from McDonald's for quite some time, but I am going to keep with my diet and JUST SAY NO!!! They are so good though...hmmmm.

Currently, I have been catching on OITNB..I am a little late, because I was waiting on the hubby to watch with me, but he's behind on it so I have been doing my own thing LOL!!! Already on episode 5 of this new season.

And finally, I am an all star in all things!!! But, especially in listening. With my friends, family, kinders...these ears are always on and ready.

Defending Play in K!

I came across a pin on PINTREST by Herding Kats In Kindergarten !!! It said, "You can discover more about a child through play than in a year of standardized tests."
                                    DUH.
I couldn't have agreed more! So, I wanted to add my two cents on this matter :)
With a BS in Birth-Kindergarten and now obtaining a MEd in BK: Leadership and Administration I know the importance of hands on learning. I taught NC PreK for two years and moved to K this past school year. There was a world of difference, but I stayed true to who I am as an early childhood educator and catered to my students play through learning, creating a fun environment based on what we were learning. For example, I created redwood trees in the classroom when we discussed the rain forest (sorry, no photos from the classroom, but....)

For one of my graduate courses, I did research on the topic of the Power of K! The Power of K position statement is one to read!! It basically lets you know that K classrooms in NC need to be engaging and have interactive experiences. K-8 years old is the age that is crucial for early learning; within this age range students are in their prime time for growing, learning, and developing. I am a true believer that students learn through their environment and real-life experiences. Real life experiences are hand on what the children know...so, teachers need to bring this into the classroom!

Herding Kats in Kindergarten's Center Signs with the "I Can" statements is so smart and beneficial to centers in the classroom. The only "I Can" statements I had were on the white specifically only for reading, writing, phonics, math, science, and social studies.

Bright Colors Center Signs

This upcoming school year I will have specific centers in my room, such as art, cozy area, library, manipulatives, writing, sand/water and listening. Unfortunately, no blocks or housekeeping due to limited funds, but that will be soon changing!!

I will keep you updated ! Herding Kats in Kindergarten: Defending Play <--- check it out!

TPT Dare To Dream

My Dreams for TpT

Week 2 has arrived for the #TpTSellerChallenge!!! My goal and dreams for my TpT business is to INSPIRE others, have extra income for my FAMILY, and open my own child care center to help Educate our youth!!!

Inspiring others is such a great feeling!! You can get inspired by quotes, pictures, ideas, etc. I use TpT to inspire other educators with my creative juices so they can inspire their students with my learning activities. So, hop on over to check them out!!

Having a few extra dollars on the side does not hurt at ALL! Especially, with a growing family :) The products I sale on TpT will help me buy my two year old extra things he may like, put money towards savings for trips, love you gifts for the hubby...LOL!! Just whatever. It's a good feeling to know you have that extra income.

My ultimate dream is to have my own child care center before I am 30. This has always been a dream of mine! I love to educate, I love the youth, I love to inspire, and provide for others. Being in child care since 2009 and growing since then with having my BS in Birth-Kindergarten and now obtaining my Master's is a great educational outlook for my dream. The experience and knowledge that I have about early childhood leads to the great products on TpT.

I need to just keep letting the Lord guide me and Bless this business to open up more doors for me in the future!

What are your dreams?

Been AWAY, but now I'm Back

I am back! There has been a lot of creative things happening in the K classroom that I am excited to share with you.

But First....FLASH FREEBIE on my Teacher's Notebook Store!!!!!!!!!

Giant Panda Clipart

Let's get started :)

The past two weeks my little pandas have become Paleontologists...We have learned so much through digging for bones, creating our on excavation site, discussing dinosaurs, and TODAY excavating chocolate chip cookies.

Take a delicious look...yum yum
Big Kudos to Mrs. VanMeter from TPT for the Freebie

Excavating the chocolate chips out...

 "I got 24!!!"

 Mrs. Johnson, I counted 17!!!

So, let's take it back to Dr. Seuss Day !!!
Let's make some Dr. Seuss Hats, while we watch "The Cat in the Hat"!!!

 They were all silent :)

Supplies we used for our edible "hats"

Let's back up some more to our 100 days of school...
Fun day for the kiddos
They had the option to create their own shirts with 100 things on them.

Yummy gummy bears...

Then some FUN!! math time.
100 Hershey kisses for our game ---> "Our Kisses"
So we played the game by making a 100 chart and writing numbers 0-100 on the bottom of 101 Hershey kisses...the students then had to place the correct number on the bottom of the kisses to that on the board.

SO MUCH FUN!
